3D Optical Digitizers
Patterned light is projected onto subjects; deformation is recorded by an off-set camera. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Fast, accurate and adaptable for human portraiture.

3D Laser Scanners
A laser line moves over subjects' surfaces; an off-set camera records deformation. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Slower, but higher accuracy enabled for static objects.

3D Mechanical Digitizers
Mechanical arms physically probe objects, guided by the user; points are recorded on the surface of subjects. Intuitive but slow. Unsuitable for delicate objects.

3D Scanning software
View, edit and export scan data efficiently and accurately. Triangulation, registration and merging algorithms, polygon editing, CAD conversion, model export for web viewing.

Konica Minolta Vivid 910 - 3D Laser Scanner

Turn it on, aim and frame using the LCD viewfinder, and shoot. You don't even need a host computer. The VIVID 910 has features like portability, auto-focus, three interchangeable lenses, and color images equivalent to a digital camera with full 24-bit color depth. You can export files into a number of file formats including: STL, DXF, OBJ, ASCII points, VRML.

Konica Minolta Vivid 910: 3D Laser scanner with colour capture and three interchangable lenses.
Konica Minolta Vivid 910

Easy to Use
No lengthy set-up, warm-up, and calibration process. With Konica Minolta's precision auto focus, there is no need to move the VIVID back and forth or to manually adjust or guess at the optimal focus. And, no manual adjustment for different ambient light conditions. With Konica Minolta's optional rotating table, you can index the scanned part and capture all sides in one automated process.

High Speed
Scan 307,000 points in only 2.5 seconds. Scan 77,000 points in 0.3 seconds.

Portable
The 910 weighs approximately 25 lbs and does not require a host computer. Multiple scans can be saved to the compact flash memory or viewed immediately on the rear-panel's color LCD viewfinder.

Flexible
Digitize variable volumes (between 100x80x40mm and 1200x900x400mm) while maintaining precise repeatability. Three lenses (telephoto, medium, wide angle) are standard equipment and are as easy to change as the lens on your SLR camera.

The VIVID 910 employs laser-beam light sectioning technology to scan workpieces using a slit beam. Light reflected from the workpiece is acquired by a CCD camera, and 3D data is then created by triangulation to determine distance information. The laser beam is scanned using a high-precision galvanometric mirror, and 640 × 480 individual points can be measured per scan. Konica Minolta's unique high-speed image processing chips have been integrated in order to ensure rapid measurement, and this has made it possible to complete measurements in 2.5 seconds (or in as little as 0.3 seconds in FAST mode). In addition to distance data, furthermore, this 3D digitizer can also be used to acquire color image data. Employing a rotating filter to separate the acquired light, the VIVID 910 can create color image data for 640 × 480 points with the same CCD as used for distance data. Please note that the product series is called "VIVID" in all areas except Europe and is called "VI" in Europe. This website uses the "VIVID" series name.
