3D Optical Digitizers
Patterned light is projected onto subjects; deformation is recorded by an off-set camera. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Fast, accurate and adaptable for human portraiture.
3D Laser Scanners
A laser line moves over subjects' surfaces; an off-set camera records deformation. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Slower, but higher accuracy enabled for static objects.
3D Mechanical Digitizers
Mechanical arms physically probe objects, guided by the user; points are recorded on the surface of subjects. Intuitive but slow. Unsuitable for delicate objects.
3D Scanning software
View, edit and export scan data efficiently and accurately. Triangulation, registration and merging algorithms, polygon editing, CAD conversion, model export for web viewing.

InSpeck 3D Mega Capturor DF -
Optical 3D Digitizer
Versatile, dual field digitizer. Now with two
mega-pixel cameras.
InSpeck 3D Capturor DF
Engineered specifically to help users with
constantly changing digitizing needs, the 3D Mega Capturor DF is synonymous
with the word versatility. The major innovation in the DF, which stands for
Dual Field, is the fact that there are now two mega-pixel cameras built into
the system. Simply put, this means users can digitize two different volumes
of measurement. In other words, with the same digitizer, users can now digitize
objects of the size of a face/head and of the size of half a human body with
the same system. The 3D Mega Capturor DF can be described as a 2-in-1 digitizer,
which is quite useful for applications like medical imaging and research just
to name a few. These expanding markets can benefit from the high quality data
the 3D Mega Capturor DF can provide.
As with all the other InSpeck digitizers,
the technology used to capture the data is not a laser, but rather a white
halogen light that can be used safely on humans. Like all of InSpeck’s
systems, the 3D Mega Capturor DF is also very capable of scanning hair,
which has traditionally been a problem for others. Because of its fine
texture, complex structure and many variants, hair is probably the most
difficult thing to digitize. The 3D Mega Capturor DF can also digitize
any skin color with ease. Its capability to capture hair and skin color
is what distinguishes the 3D Mega Capturor DF from the rest.
Digitized Volume Options
The 3D Mega Capturor DF is designed to
offer two different fields of view thanks to the two mega-pixel cameras
built into the system. The [Small Field] camera is perfect for small target
areas like faces or heads for example. It will give you very high resolution.
The [Large Field] camera will acquire a larger target area but with lesser
details. With this model you can easily digitize half a person, (head
to waist, waist to feet etc). This is a great solution for people wanting
to build a front view of half a body. Scan the body (from the waist up)
with the [Large Field]. Then, scan the face with the [Small Field] camera
and attach the face to the body. You now have a great high-detail front
view of half a human body.
Another possibility is to configure more
than one digitizer to work together as a system. You can configure multiple
digitizers together and by placing your subject/object in the middle,
you can take a single acquisition. This enables users to easily capture
subjects that can’t stay still for more than a few seconds (i.e.
babies, animals etc.), otherwise impossible by taking multiple acquisitions
with a single digitizer. This is what InSpeck calls the Multi Head system.
These systems come with a calibration target that eliminates time-consuming
registration (view alignment) processing steps.
In the end, Multi Head systems help users cut down drastically the time
it takes to go from acquisitions to complete 3D models.
