3D Optical Digitizers
Patterned light is projected onto subjects; deformation is recorded by an off-set camera. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Fast, accurate and adaptable for human portraiture.
3D Laser Scanners
A laser line moves over subjects' surfaces; an off-set camera records deformation. Triangulation calculates a 3D mesh. Slower, but higher accuracy enabled for static objects.
3D Mechanical Digitizers
Mechanical arms physically probe objects, guided by the user; points are recorded on the surface of subjects. Intuitive but slow. Unsuitable for delicate objects.
3D Scanning software
View, edit and export scan data efficiently and accurately. Triangulation, registration and merging algorithms, polygon editing, CAD conversion, model export for web viewing.

InSpeck 3D Capturor II - Optical
3D Digitizer
The InSpeck 3D Capturor II is a scalable 3D digitizing
system. It is renowned for its
- Speed of Capture
- Incredible precision
- Multiple configurations
- Great resolution
- Price
InSpeck 3D Capturor II
InSpeck’s new 3D Capturor II
line of digitizers is the company’s latest evolution of its popular
Capturor series. Based on a new, more promising digital camera technology,
this innovative line of products boasts very fast FireWire data transfer
that eliminates the use of the Frame Grabber card and enables users to
connect the digitizer directly into their laptops. The 3D Capturor II
digitizer will be able to digitize hair and uses safe-for-humans halogen
light technology that can digitize a view in less than a second. This
will be the first line of digitizers on the market to offer more than
one million sampled points per acquisition. This will not only mean better
geometry resolution but it will also bring textures with better than ever
realism.
With its stylish design and high quality
components, the 3D Capturor II has been simplified to enable usage by
non-specialized users. The digitizer can be applied to computer animation,
video game development, movie special effects, medical imaging and research,
e-commerce as well as other various applications. Each of these expanding
markets can benefit from the high quality 3D data provided by InSpeck’s
digitizers.
The 3D Capturor II is capable of providing
its users with the realism needed to create a game character or film special
effect. It can quickly measure a living being’s 3D geometry and
texture in color. Whatever the skin color or facial feature, Inspeck's
technology can capture it and turn it into high quality usable data. Involuntary
movement during an acquisition is a non-issue compared to laser acquisitions,
which can take up to 20 seconds or more. This advantage is due to a system
based on white halogen light, which makes it fast and completely safe
for humans.
This new Capturor series is specially
designed to capture hair, which has traditionally been a problem for others.
Because of its fine texture, complex structure and many variants, hair
is probably the most difficult
thing to digitize. InSpeck’s digitizer can also digitize any skin
color with ease. Its capability to capture hair and skin color is what
distinguishes the 3D Capturor II from many of its competitors.
Digitized
Volume Options
The Capturor is available in two different
fields of view. The Capturor [Small Field] is perfect for small target
areas like faces or heads for example. It will give you very high resolution.
The Capturor [Large Field] will acquire a larger target area but with
lesser details. With this model you can easily digitize half a person,
(head to waist, waist to feet etc).
Another possibility is to configure more
than one digitizer to work together as a system. You can configure multiple
digitizers together and by placing your subject/object in the middle,
you can take a single acquisition. This enables users to easily capture
subjects that can’t stay still for more than a few seconds (i.e.
babies, animals etc.), otherwise impossible by taking multiple acquisitions
with a single digitizer. This is what InSpeck calls the Multi Head system.
These systems come with a calibration target that eliminates time-consuming
registration (view alignment) processing steps.
In the end, Multi Head systems help users cut down drastically the time
it takes to go from acquisitions to complete 3D models.
